Triss Fifer

MSW, LCSW

Office hours:
Monday through Thursday

Welcome

I am a therapist who has been licensed and practicing in Portland since 1991. My clients come from many different backgrounds, ethnicities and orientations.

I understand that meeting with a therapist can be a stressful experience for some. My first priority is to provide a safe, comfortable environment where you can identify your goals and make progress in working toward them. I connect with clients in a human, realistic and compassionate way. I promise to nourish your trust with appropriate boundaries, ethical behavior and a lack of negative judgement.

I will honor your uniqueness and encourage your growing inner strength and resilience. I believe respectful humor and lightness can be healing, and self-worth is nurtured when people recognize and draw on their own insights.

I have a special interest in working with women on health and life adjustment challenges. I believe clients are best served when they feel free to question my style or suggestions. I encourage you to listen to your “gut” or “inner voice.” If something doesn’t feel right in therapy, let me know. I understand your hope that therapy will help you identify and address both goals and concerns. Your goals are my goals. Your concerns are my concerns.

Therapy Services

I offer individual and couples therapy in downtown Portland. My treatment approach blends psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and systems approaches in a way which is most helpful for each client.

Insurance and Fees

Since the insurance industry is rapidly changing, I encourage clients to call their plan if they have specific questions about copay or deductible amounts.

New Clients

I look forward to meeting you.   Before you come in for your first appointment, please print and fill out the forms included in this website.

"Triss is great! She is a natural listener, and knows how to gently guide the conversation to help point you in the right direction. She has a wonderfully calm spirit, which always helps put you at ease."

Dub T., Portland OR

My personal counseling sessions with Triss were over a two year period. Triss takes an appropriate amount of time to get your story. After several appointments she was able to not only listen, but to begin offering very thoughtful and useful insights. Triss helped me to really see things in my self that I could improve, or simply take into consideration when interacting in the world. She also gave me tools to deal with heavier subjects: terminal illness, and death. Triss is professional, a strong listener, and a genuinely caring soul.
